Children's Eyecare and Myopia management.

Eye tests for children

Eye problems in children aren't as common as in adults, however, it is important to have your child's eyes tested regularly to ensure they are developing correctly, and to detect any potential issues early on. Your childs sight test is free until they are 16.

If your child is experiencing any of the following symptoms ensure you book them for a test:

  • One eye turning inwards

  • Headaches or eye strain

  • Difficulty reading

  • Constantly rubbing their eyes

Myopia Management

There is substantial evidence that myopia is growing around the world, with a recent study estimating that on average, 30% of the world is currently myopic and by 2050, almost 50% will be myopic, that’s a staggering 5 billion people.

Myopia, or short-sightedness as it is commonly known, can easily be corrected with conventional glasses to provide clear vision. There are however well-documented links between high myopia and eye conditions such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. All of which can cause irreversible loss of vision.

This is where Myopia management comes in.. the aim is to stop normal levels of myopia from progressing to sight-threatening high myopia.

We currently provide management options through specialised spectacle lenses and contact lenses.

Stellest spectacle lenses by Essilor

When it comes to myopia, correcting your child’s eyesight today won’t protect them for tomorrow. Myopia can still worsen, potentially affecting their future vision. Stellest® lenses are Essilor®’s best solution to fight your child’s myopia, and their strong efficacy has been clinically proven.
